Do you enjoy challenges and problem solving? Do you have strong attention to detail and enjoy hands-on, technical tasks? The Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician programme can provide you a career working with and learning about some of the most exciting technologies.

You will have responsibility for the planning, installation and testing of plumbing and heating systems. It is a varied job which will also see you demonstrating customer service skills, analysing customer problems, and understanding the needs of stakeholders and colleagues.

As a Level 3 Plumbing and Domestic Heating Technician, you will be working with appliances such as heat emitters, pumps, oil, and solid fuel boilers as part of your work with hot water, central heating, and rainwater systems. A competent plumbing and domestic heating technician is also expected to demonstrate accurate pipework.

What experience and skills will you gain?

  • Installation and testing techniques for electrical components and control systems on plumbing and domestic heating systems
  • Operate in a safe working manner by adhering to health and safety legislation, codes of practice and applying safe working practices
  • Take responsibility for own work and safety and welfare of others
  • Oversee and organise the programme of work and work environment Carry outwork and manage resources in an environmentally friendly manner
  • Apply selection, planning, installation, testing, commissioning and de-commissioning, service, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair techniques on cold water, hot water, central heating, above ground drainage and rainwater systems
