Success Story - LSBU Green Skills Hub Case Study!

Tell us about yourself...

My name is Susan Bygraves, I am interested in building and architecture, I enjoy doing DIY around the home and I am currently exploring courses around retrofitting.

How did you find out about the LSBU Green Skills Hub?

I found out about the hub through the Peckham Job Centre. They were running a Green Jobs Fair with the Green Skills Hub, which I attended and that’s how I found out about retrofitting. I then spoke to one of the staff about upcoming courses, and I enrolled on the retrofit taster course.

What course/ job did you enroll on with the Hub and how has it contributed to your development as an individual? 

I enrolled on the L2 Domestic retrofit course at South Bank Technical College. It gave me insight, knowledge and understanding of retrofit and it has enhanced my desire to upskill on courses in this area. I have also applied for the Net Zero Bootcamp.

If you could give one piece of advice to other residents about working with the Hub, what would it be? 

Have an open mind. I was able to go to the jobs centre to see what was out there and that’s how I learnt about retrofit.
