My name is Shereen Chung-Blake, and I am the Program Coordinator for the Future Gardeners Employment Course.

The Future Gardeners Horticultural Course is a transformative platform for unemployed individuals seeking to cultivate new skills and opportunities in the green industry. An idea of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners the programme has been developed and managed by Bank Side Open Spaces Trust (BOST) since 2016.

How did you find out about the LSBU Green Skills Hub?

We were invited to attend a Green Careers event at South Bank University aimed at school leavers with SEND.   At the careers fair I met Hazel the Liaison Assistant, and she told me more about the hub and introduced me to other members of the team.

How has the Hub helped to fulfil your business needs?

The Green Skills Job Fairs at local job centres have been useful!  They give us the chance to meet our target audience and tell them more about our course but also listen to their needs and concerns which help us to reflect and refine our course provision.  Students that we enrolled via these job centre job fairs have both graduated with great success and gone on to pursue careers in horticulture.
